I joined the lantern-making class at Hằng Dũng during my visit to Hội An, and it turned out to be such a fun and memorable experience! From the moment I stepped in, I was welcomed by a colorful space filled with beautiful lanterns hanging all around. The staff were incredibly attentive and guided me patiently through each step – from assembling the frame to carefully wrapping the fabric. Even if you’ve never tried anything like this before, they make it simple and enjoyable. What I really appreciated was the little touches: the class includes a small snack and bottled water, and the workshop is in an air-conditioned room, which makes the whole experience comfortable (especially in Hội An’s warm weather!). At the end, you get to bring home your handmade lantern – such a unique and meaningful souvenir compared to just buying one from a shop. If you’re in Hội An and looking for something cultural, creative, and relaxing to do, I’d highly recommend this class. It’s not just about making a lantern, but also about bringing home a piece of Hội An’s soul. 🌸

An absolute must if you’re in Hoi An. We had the most amazing experience led by the owner Mrs Hang, who is lovely, experienced, and very helpful. There are so many options for your lanterns, in all sizes, colours, fabrics, and options to paint your own. She provided us with water and snacks throughout and her english is absolutely amazing! They even folded them down for us so that they could fit in our backpack. Could not recommend enough, just go!
A must experience whilst in Hoi An. Mrs Hang is a lovely person that runs the lantern making school. It is best to what's app message her where she will send details of her prices, what it includes and times you can visit. You then message her just 30 mins before to confirm your arrival time, number of people and size of lantern yo wish to make. You can choose to either make the lantern frame, then cover it in fabric of your choice or paint onto a blank canvas. Or you can skip the frame making and decorate in fabric or paint your design. You can then add trims and a tassel to hide any rough edges! The price for a 20 or 30cm lantern to decorate or paint is 120k. This includes a well-made lantern frame, the fabric, trimmings, tassel, a drink, snacks whilst working, and a free souvenir to take away! Amazing price to gain a skill in creating your own handmade lantern. The lanterns also fold up for travelling! Mrs Hang is very patient and will help you throughout the process if you need it. I recommend anyone to do this, a great few hours spent. Thank you, Mrs Hang 😘
A must go visit for lantern making. Hang is really nice and has great English. Her staff are all Vietnamese and there English isn't great but for me this adds to the experience as they are super helpful. Free snacks and tea and coffee, and a free additional souvenir with every lantern. So at 120,000 per lantern this is a great price.
